| When we started selling Cabernet in the early 70's, people were very enthusiastic about the wines and they sold very well. In 1980, we created additional Cabernet capacity and increased production, so with this vintage we began the Library Release program.
The Cabernet is aged for 30 months in oak before being bottled. It is bottle aged for another 18 months and released in the Fall when it is 4 years old, however, not all of it is sold. We hold back about 2,000 cases until it's 10 years old, thus having a 4 year old and a 10 year old Cabernet available each Fall. We also keep a few cases after the 10 year release to make available even older vertical selections. This provides a unique opportunity to serve older Cabernets that have been cellared under ideal conditions at the winery.
