| The wines produced by this estate, which was founded in 1935, are rich in potential and have class.
Meroni Agricultural Firm is located in one of the five communes of Valpolicella, to be more precise in Sant'Ambrogio about 15 Km from Verona, where Valpolicella hosts the birth of the Amarone, Valpolicella, Recioto; after the 70's our zone has
called Classica, for distinguishing from the larger but less nominated part of the Valpolicella, for personal and economical interest. Meroni Agricultural Firm extends to 15 hectares from which 7,5 hectares are cultivated in vine and the rest in olive-trees and berries. In a paper document of Venice state Archives dated to 1706, you can see the ancient head-quarters of the company actually where today the firm is located by the name of “Sengia” where is seen in “Catasto Terreni Napoleonico” with the title of ”Arativo erborato vitato in colle”. Since 1935 Meroni has only used its own which are grown on “Sengia and Maso” farm, situated in Grola zone, the zone where is still reserved as the best for Valpolicella the place that Recioto and Amarone were created. Here the Meronis cultivate with love and dedication the high-quality grapes. With the love for the land and its fruit the vine-dressers and the cellar men keep the two wine lines; “Sengia” the original name of the firm and “Velluto” a dedication from the famous dialectal veronese poet, Berto Barbarani. |
